SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
When it’s your turn please send an email to myxomatapesis@gmail.com containing:
-
- A link to a Mixcloud mix or Spotify/Youtube playlist.
80 minutes max. I will count. - Artwork in square format.
- A title.
- Some words. 3 minimum.
- A link to a Mixcloud mix or Spotify/Youtube playlist.
You deliver by Saturday. I post it by Sunday. Sometimes.
If you want to send early, please do! It’s nice to have some time to swill it about before spitting it out.
WAIT, WHAT KIND OF A MIXTAPE?
Anything goes as long as it’s under 80 mins. If it’s just what you’re enjoying listening to then no problemo, go ahead. But the whole provide title, artwork and words thing is to encourage limitations and/or narrative. Sounds a bit wanky? Good. All I’m saying is that people seem to find the process most stressful when they’re simply trying to show the breadth of their unparalleled eclectic taste, while limiting to a specific vibe or story will probably make the whole thing easier. Know what I mean?
SOME EXAMPLE TITLES. You need a title.

- Shut Up And Dance
- Way More Deep Than The Deepest Depth

OPTION 1: Continuous “proper” mix for Mixcloud
Choose this if: you’re a musician/DJ/producer or have aspirations/pretensions to be one. A single tune in isolation means nothing, it’s all about the flow. You know what soundscape means but also know to limit its use in casual conversation. While everyone else is on the dancefloor you might be found recording your own Foley near the back stairs. If you could add reverb, delay or flanger to banal conversations you would.
OPTION 2: Spotify / Youtube playlist
Fuck all this knob-twiddling, it’s all about the selection, man. You’re no luddite but you spurn any technology that doesn’t take you straight to what you need: the sweet hot music. You love Spotify, talk about it a lot and maybe even pay for it. You’ve had Garage Band on your Mac for a while but life’s too short to learn that shit. You’re DIY, you’re punk, you’re keeping it real. With Spotify. Or YouTube. Yeah.
