Daniel Norgren’s Howling is long enough to set me wondering for a different time and a different place. I read The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test a few years ago – a new journalism account of some wildcats trying out psychedelics on a big bus driving across america in the sixties. The vibe is hysterical and the colours are screeching. I’m glad I’m not there too long but I’m determined to find a Grateful Dead track that I actually like. I struggle at that. And what is Grace Slick screaming at us at the end of White Rabbit anyway? I take her advice and end up at this intense Janis Joplin gig. It’s good crack though I’m feeling uneasy. Lead Belly takes me back further but now I’m lost and drifting. Need something familiar to get me home; Moby duly provides and I collapse on the sofa to rest my audio legs. Nice tripping. Cheers Daniel.
