Finally got around to throwing this mix together in the midst of family Christmas madness. In a very real (if a tad dramatic) sense, it got me through unscathed.

For context: biting Northern weather meant the entire family were cooped together under one roof- babies test-driving vocal cords, nerf gun vigilantes, cousins with beef, everyone with commendable daytime blood alcohol concentrations. The perfect storm. Salvation came in the form of noise cancelling headphones and the myxomatapesis task before me.

It’s a loose theme, but they are songs I’d pick for a flotation tank. Or songs that do the job of one. They are mostly quite magical and offer ready escapism. I’ve tried to avoid anything too of this Earth or ‘bandy’. There’s a real variety of styles and eras, but in general I have just chosen songs that shut the world out for me by virtue of being distracting bangers.
